Born in Prince Rupert, BC, Garner Moody was adopted by Lloyd and Muriel Moody of Skidegate, BC, making Haida artist, Rufus Moody, his great uncle. Moody began to carve at the very early age of nine and when he was fifteen, he carved his first piece of argillite. By the early 1980’s his focus was carving exclusively in wood. He moved to Vancouver in 1987 and spent the next two years working with renowned artist, Bill Reid on his canoe, Lootas. Moody now resides on Haida Gwaii (the Queen Charlotte Islands) where he continues to produce outstanding works in wood, gold, silver, and paper.
