Nusmata (Jarrod Saunders), was born in the Nuxalk Nation Bella Coola, Canada. He has been carving for over 20 years, Jarrod typically works with local red or yellow cedar, and other mediums. He worked with Salish artists Doug Horne and Doug LaFortune on Vancouver Island. He was given the traditional name Nusmata, meaning ‘Sacred Longhouse’ by his Grandfather and master, Silyas Saunders.
