Peter is a coast Salish artist and member of the Squamish Nation. He grew up on Whonnock Reserve #1. Peter have always been interested in his culture and as a child spent many hours on the Fraser river fishing with his uncle who would tell Peter the stories and legends that he grew up with. Through these experiences Peter was inspired to stay true to his art.
Peter learned to carve in ivory and wood when he was a teenager from his uncle Jack Miranda. Peter now works primarily in cedar. He carves masks and bentwood boxes, panels, paddles and rattles. He also works with other wood and sometime with mammoth ivory.
