Sage Nowak is Tahltan and Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation belonging to the Wolf Clan. Sage is from Whitehorse, Yukon and descends from Old Crow, Yukon and Telegraph Creek, BC. He is a carver, designer, painter, drum maker and sculptor.
After years of travel, he reconnected to his roots and culture through traditional arts. After returning from his time abroad he was mentored by Tlingit artist Calvin Morburg from the Teslin community. He has continued to practice the craft of First Nations arts, funding his travels across Turtle Island (North America).
After his travels, Sage moved to Terrace, BC under the tutelage of master carvers Stan Bevan, Dean Heron, Ken McNeil, and Dempsey Bob in the Freda Diesing Design School of North West Coast Arts.
Sage currently resides in Vancouver, BC where he has most recently been working with Tsimshian artist Phil Gray.
