Wilson is Haida and belongs to the Eagle clan. He is mainly self-taught and has been carving since 1970. His training has included a 14 week program taught by Gordon Cross which he took with fellow artist Nelson Cross. Wayne has also worked with argillite carver, Rufus Moody. He is known for his jewelry in which he utilizes an overlay technique to create depth and intricacy. His work is distinct and can be found in galleries and collections around the B.C. Coast.
