The inspiration for this design originated from a small 2" diameter boxwood pendant known as Raven Bringing Light to the World. This pendant would become the inspiration for a series of works that have taken place over the course of Davidson's career and have subsequently become iconic imagery within his art.

In 1997 the Canadian Mint released 22kt limited edition gold coins that used this design. The coin comes close in size to the original pendant.
