Kelvin Thompson

Kelvin Thompson grew up surrounded by many artists, including Garry Meeches and Isaac Bignel. He first began to work in the style of the Northwest Coast in 1978 carving with Barry Wilson, Derek Wilson and Henry Robertson, all well-known artists from the Haisla Nation, of which Thompson was adopted into.

Thompson now almost entirely focuses his career around jewellery-making. His work is known for its detail and precision and his designs are creative and complex. Thompson has also worked in a teaching role, and has influenced other young carvers in this capacity. He has established himself as one of the top jewelry carvers working in the Northwest Coast today.
