1991 Born in 1953 in Bella Bella, BC Heiltsuk artist Ivan Wilson began pursuing art in his late teens. His early training came under renowned carver Dennis Matilpi, where he developed strong foundations in wood carving and totem design. He later shifted his focus to fine metalwork, learning silver and gold engraving under the guidance of his late uncles (celebrated artists Stanley George and Steven Hunt) whose influence continues to shape his approach.
