Chief Amos Dawson was born in 1937 in Alert Bay, British Columbia. Dawson, and his sister Alice Rosso, were known for their jewelry designs. Dawson cited fellow Kwakwaka’wakw artists Chief Mungo Martin, Willie Seaweed, and Charlie James as inspirations. In the 1970s, Dawson taught wood carving at the Native Friendship Centre and was a representative of Canada at Expo 74 in Spokane, WA. Dawson passed away in 1985.
