Dorothy Grant

Dorothy Grant is a renowned Northwest Coast native artist. For many years she has been recognized for the quality and craftsmanship of her fine Button Blankets and Dance Aprons. These traditional pieces can be found in many important private and public collections.

In the early 1980’s, Grant decided to create fashion garments based on the traditional Haida Regalia. With this in mind, she attended a fashion design school in Vancouver, graduating in 1988. She then proceeded to put together a collection of fifty-five pieces, which she premiered at the Hotel Vancouver. She titled this show Feastwear, and this has been her label ever since.

Grant’s Raven Creation Tunic was purchased by the Museum of Civilization in Hull, Quebec and is now part of their permanent collection. Grant’s fashion collections have now been presented in Europe and the United States. She has continued to pursue her fashion career, bringing new concepts to the world of fashion, based on her Haida heritage.
