Art Thompson was encouraged by his grandmother to learn about his cultural heritage and art after being injured in a logging accident. He studied at the Vancouver School of Art and Camosun College in Victoria and began to take part in Nuu-chah-nulth ceremonial life.
His earliest prints set a standard for Northwest Coast graphics, and he is one of the most accomplished designers, as is evident in his graphics, jewelry, and sculpture. Thompson’s work can be found in many museum, corporate, and private collections.
